So when do you worship?
Good question. Thanks for asking.
Right now, we have 2 worship service at Searchlight Ministries.
At 8:00 we meet in the Crown Meeting room at the hotel. Here we have no guitars or speakers. Pastor Mark preaches the sermon as you sit around tables and ask questions. This has given rise to its nickname as the SOS (sermon only service). Many men seem to enjoy this service as it is shorter in length and early enough to head back home for Sunday sports. This has given rise to its other nickname of Man Church.
At 9:30, we gather in praise, celebration, study, and communion. We typically start off the service with 3-4 worship songs and then move to the sermon time. Then, we have communion with the lights turned down and more meditative worship songs playing. We end the service by picking the tempo back up with a final celebration song.
This is our usual arrangement, but since we love to change things up (if it ain't broke... break it), there are weeks when we modify the schedule. And then there are times we will have a full band or we might have only a few players. There are even Sundays when there is no music at all.
One thing you can count on is that the worship is designed to help you grow in your discipleship and worship of our Lord. Oh, yeah... and there is always good food to eat and strong coffee to drink after worship is over.
